The Newton Girls Can Swim

We had our third swim meet this weekend. Although our team lost the meet, Maddy and Regan swept their events. Maddy swam freestyle, breast, and IM. In breast stroke, she broke our competitors pool record and our own team record, and her freestyle relay broke our competitors pool record and they again broke our team record. Her IM was very strong as well. She knocked about 15 seconds off of her seed time and qualified for allstars. Her goal is to get a Ponderosa time in all events. She is very close.
Regan swam breast, back and fly. She qualified her back for allstars and is very close to Ponderosa in breast. She has already qualified her freestyle for Ponderosa. The days and therefore the water are getting warmer, so getting faster times is getting harder and harder. Regan made some huge gains for her team in the freestyle relay to bring them in for a win. It's so fun to watch them do so well! 2 more meets to go before we swim divisionals and invitationals. Hard to believe we're coming to the end of the season already!

More Swim Team

Yes, swim team is pretty much our life these days. They swim after school, wake up at 5:30 on saturday morning and swim all day, and then want to swim some more after we get home. We'll be glad when school is out, it's just getting in the way! The girls did great, again this week. Regan was out sick all week, but insisted she was well enough to swim. Her times were a few seconds slower than normal, but she still walked away with all blue ribbons. Maddy tried her hand at backstroke this week, and even though she claims she can't do it, she got second place, swam an allstar time and proved that she's a contender.

1st Swim Meet

We have our first swim meet under our belt. The girls swam great! Maddy's freestyle relay broke the pool record they set the end of last season. Looks like they will both dominate breast stroke this year! That's Maddy swimming freestyle in the pink cap in the second picture. She won that race. I get to be a "stroke and turn" official this year. That's the person that stands on the side of the pool and makes sure everyone is swimming the stroke correctly. If not, I get to DQ them. Not so fun. And I don't have time to take any pictures! We have an away meet this week so hopefully my week won't be so busy. It takes a lot of work to host a swim meet!

Finally Done!

We are finally done with the floors and the painting! Still trying to clean up all the dust, that may take awhile. Still need to buy new lights for the bathrooms. Gotta love the builder, they didn't center the junction boxes over the mirrors. Really limits my light choices. But I guess nearly anything is better than what was there.

Redoing our floors

I'm still trying to dig out of the mess of redoing our downstairs floor. They piled all of our furniture in the dining room. The bad thing was I had painters in all of our bathrooms, which put them off limits for a few days as well!
